Private screenshot cleanup

Offline PII screenshot redaction for Mac.

Redaktr is built for screenshots that contain sensitive data: customer emails, phone numbers, faces, account IDs, card-like numbers, internal names, and personal notifications. Detection and redaction run locally on your Mac with no upload.

PII that appears in everyday screenshots

Support and success

Tickets, inboxes, CRM screens, customer dashboards, and billing tools often include names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and account IDs.

Founder and operator work

Build-in-public posts, investor updates, analytics screenshots, and product demos can expose customer data or internal business data.

Teaching and content

Tutorial screenshots can include personal email, notifications, browser profile names, calendar details, faces, or QR codes in the background.

What offline means here

Offline PII redaction means the screenshot does not need to be uploaded to a web app, cloud OCR service, or AI model to find likely sensitive data. Redaktr uses local OCR and local detectors, then lets you review each finding before exporting a clean copy.

The app may contact the network for license checks, checkout links, update checks, and app updates. Screenshot content, OCR text, matched sensitive text, clipboard image data, and cleaned exports are not sent to Redaktr for processing.

PII and sensitive data checklist

  • Emails, phone numbers, faces, and card-like numbers.
  • Customer names, domains, account IDs, ticket IDs, and internal codenames.
  • QR codes and barcodes that may contain links or contact details.
  • Personal notifications, browser profiles, calendar snippets, and sidebar details.
  • Manual boxes for anything the detector missed or anything you simply do not want visible.

Redaktr is a review layer, not a promise of perfect detection

No PII redaction tool catches everything automatically. Redaktr reduces the surface area, explains likely findings, and keeps human review in the workflow before you share.

Offline PII redaction FAQ

What counts as PII in a screenshot?

PII can include emails, phone numbers, faces, names, account details, addresses, payment-like numbers, profile details, and anything that can identify a person or customer when combined with context.

Why not use a web-based screenshot cleaner?

A web-based cleaner may require uploading the image you are trying to protect. Redaktr keeps the scan and review local so customer data and personal information do not need to leave your Mac.

Can I add customer-specific terms?

Yes. Add custom terms, domains, regexes, and allowlists for customer names, internal labels, project codenames, and account formats that matter to your workflow.
